MASSEY FERGUSON INDUSTRIAL TRACTOR MF40 135 AD3 152. This is a MF40 tractor - 1977. The engine is AD3 152, same as the MF135.

Basically very similar to a 135, with beefed up rear end, but takes most of the same components. This one had a complete overhaul of the engine by my father last year without expense spared... He wanted to restore it completely as a project. Cylinder liners, big ends / small ends / valves...

Injectors / pistons / all seals... Unfortunately the head gasket fitted was later found to have been the wrong part, and it has failed. Replacement of gasket will yield a zero-timed engine, but unfortunatley in the age of Covid, my father has asked me to cut his losses in its restoration and sell it. The tractor is in surprising mechanical condition - there are still machine marks on he faces of gears inside, but it has not been repainted, and so looks rather tatty.

There is also a cone type log-splitter fitted, which needs painting but is otherwise ready to use. I hope the new owner will consider continuing the restoration, but if not then the parts will be of good value for breaking - obviously in particular the engine parts, which are basically unused. I can load it to a truck if you would like, since it does run OK (oil sump pressurises on running - owing to gasket failure but it still runs enough to drive / test / load). Battery / starter / alternator are strong.
